Who we are
Chic Care Academy is run by Chic Eventors Ltd, trading as Chic Care, a company registered in England and Wales (No. 13460590). Our registered office is Park House, Park Terrace, Room 2 (Suite 7), Third Floor, Worcester Park, KT4 7JZ.
We provide online training to care providers and their staff. For the training records we keep for your employer, we work on their behalf. For running the academy itself, such as sign-in and certificate checks, we decide how your information is used.
What we collect
- Your name and email address, and the organisation you work for
- The courses assigned to you, their due dates and which lessons you've completed
- Your assessment attempts, scores and results
- Certificates issued to you, with their numbers and dates
- When you sign in, and when you were added to or removed from your employer's account
- For managers: your name and job title when you sign off a Care Certificate
We don't ask for health information, and we don't use your information for marketing.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To provide the training your employer has arranged: to sign you in, track progress, mark assessments and issue certificates. Our lawful basis is our contract with your employer, and our and your employer's legitimate interests in having a trained, compliant workforce.
- To keep records your employer needs: care providers must show that staff are trained. This is a legitimate interest.
- To let others check a certificate: anyone with a certificate number can confirm the name, course and dates. This is a legitimate interest in preventing fraud.
- To keep the service secure: for example, recording sign-in times. This is a legitimate interest.
Who we share it with
- Your employer: managers at the organisation that added you can see your progress, results and certificates.
- Google: our training records system and emails run on Google Workspace and Google Apps Script. Google acts as our processor.
- Netlify: hosts this website. The pages themselves don't contain your personal information.
We don't sell personal information. We'd only share it with others if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep results and certificates for 6 years by default, so that you and your employer can show training history. If your employer asks us to keep records for longer, for example to meet their own retention policy, we may do so. Sign-in sessions expire automatically.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected, and in some cases to have it deleted or to object to how it's used. Because your training records are kept for your employer, we may pass your request to them. Contact us using the details below.
Cookies and storage on your device
We don't use cookies for tracking or advertising, and we don't use analytics. The site uses your browser's local storage only for what it needs to work:
- a sign-in token, so you stay signed in on that device
- the lessons you've completed, so your progress isn't lost if you go offline
Signing out removes the sign-in token. The fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your device's IP address to deliver them.
Videos. Some lessons include videos hosted on YouTube (or Vimeo). Each one shows a preview picture, which is loaded from YouTube. The video itself only loads when you press play. It then plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that video.
